UK Challenge Meets

UK Challenge was Hatfield Swimming Clubs first Designated open meet in May 2000. Prior to this we had held a one day junior open meet at our home pool in Hatfield in June of each year, but as Hatfield is a 36 2/3 yard pool it was not suitable for a designated meet.
So when a new 8 lane 25m pool with Omega ARES21 electronic timing opened in Borehamwood in March 2000, only 15 minutes from Hatfield, this seemed the answer.
Since our first meet in 2000 we have held ‘UK Junior Christmas Challenge 2000’ and UK Challenges 2001,2001, & 2003 at Borehamwood.
Then in August 2003 the New pool at the Hertfordshire Sports Village, part of the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield opened. This is also an 8 lane 25m pool with Omega ARES21 electronic timing but with a LED Matrix display board.
Our first meet here was ‘UK Junior Challenge 2003’ the inaugural meet for the pool. Since then we have held UKC2004, UKC Christmas Sprints 2004 & UKC Middle Distance Meet 2005 and so on.
